I believe that SME (small & medium enterprise) development is key to raising people's living standard, not only for the entrepreneur but for their employees and the whole supply chain. For many rural farmers and underemployed women and youth, crafts sales can generate significant revenue and even become the primary income stream.Much of my professional life has been devoted to developing entrepreneurial capacity in the developing world. Many of these people, farmers, herders, or city dwellers who have few opportunities. Repeatedly I have seen their lives transformed through pointed inputs geared towards developing products people want to buy, linking them to appropriate market streams, & developing their entrepreneurial capacity.
